5 Wholesome Anime I Recommend

Image
I really enjoy action anime. It's fun and is very engaging, but sometimes I just want to watch something super chill and relax to end my day. That's where wholesome anime comes in. Here are 5 wholesome anime I highly recommend and throughly enjoy. My love story       This adorable romance anime is about Takeo Goda, a 6foot 7 265lb 15-year-old who doesn’t have any luck with romance. His problem is all the girls he has a crush on fall for his best friend! This changes when he meets Rinko, a girl that’s the same age, but half his size. Thankfully, they both fall in love with each other and Takeo isn’t left heartbroken again. Neither of them have any romantic experience, and it is adorable to watch them try to do simple things like hold hands. This is the purest romance anime and very fun to watch. Sweetness and Lightning       Widower Kohei has to raise his daughter Tsumugi by himself while working as a teacher. Kohei never learned how to cook and since his wife passed he’s f

You Should Watch Love Live: Sunshine!

Image
Recently at the suggestion of a friend I watched Love Live: Sunshine , an Idol anime. For context, I often enjoy slice of life anime, I find it to be a chill medium that is just a relaxing way to end the day. However, I had never watched any idol anime, honestly, I wrote it off as stupid without even a second thought. But after watching all 26 episodes of Love Live: Sunshine, I should have given it a chance much sooner. Between the musical performances, a slice of life elements, and lighthearted comedy, I recommend everyone give it a chance; I think it might surprise you.  Music is the all-connecting medium, everyone enjoys and listens to music on an almost daily basis. Whether it’s anime OP or the latest Hip-hop track, music is definitely a consistent topic of discussion for most. In Love Live: Sunshine!  we get to see the Japanese take on different genres of music. The show has a higher emphasis on pop music, however there are a couple songs that closely align with alternative. In n

What anime means to me

Image
It’s difficult yet easy to explain what anime means to me. The quick answer is that it helped me find myself as a person. However, it wouldn’t be right to leave it at that, anime deserves better. Anime means the world to me, it has helped me make friends, appreciate other cultures, and grow as a person. I wouldn’t be where I am today if it wasn’t for anime.     Making friends was difficult for me as a kid, a sentiment a lot of otakus share I’m sure. Often when I made “friends” it would be toxic, one-way friendships with no actual bond. The first kid I made friends with was someone who was “Naruto running” around the hallways with a hidden leaf headband. We are friends to this day and we discuss anime all the time. The cool thing about making friends through anime is that they can be from anywhere and any background. I have friends I know from real life interaction, and friends I know through Reddit threads and Facebook groups. The shared passion and love of anime helped us mak

5 Manhwa I want to see made into an anime

Image
When we think of source material for anime, we often look at manga or light novels, Crunchyroll has recently shown us there is a medium we have overlooked for source material, manhwa. Manwha is essentially the Korean term for cartoons and comics. Fortunately, it seems like The God of High School and Tower of God have shown that manhwa is worth paying attention to, when discussing new anime source material. I really enjoy manhwa and I would like to see more of it become anime. I would like to share my 5 favorite manhwa I am currently reading, that I want to see become an anime as well. I’m the Grim Reaper A young woman wakes up in purgatory and is dragged to hell by the Devil. The Devil gives her 2 choices. First is to become a grim reaper and kill sinners on Earth. The other option is to go to the 9th circle of hell, which is just a void of emptiness where you feel nothing and are alone. Choosing to become a grim reaper, the woman who chooses the name Scarlet, begins her employment

My Top 5 Favorite Anime of All Time

Image
While I have mostly been posting about anime that are currently airing, I thought reminiscing about my favorite anime would be a fun idea. These are my top 5 favorite anime of all time. They aren't in any particular order, and I recommend them all if you haven't watched them yet. There will be some minor spoilers, but hopefully you'll give them a shot anyway. Sgt. Frog      Sgt. Frog is frankly just a goofy anime that is perfect if you need a good laugh after a stressful day, the light themes and goofy humor are easy to watch. It is a binge-worthy show, but Sgt. Frog is at his best when you watch a couple episodes to relax after a long day. If anyone asks me about my go-to anime for just pure humor, Sgt. Frog is my first recommendation. The best part about the shows is it doesn't really have a consistent plot, so you don't have to remember what happened in previous episodes to enjoy it. Cowboy Bebop      Cowboy Bebop was the first anime I watched that wasn’t necess

Fire Force Season 2 First Impressions

Image
Fire Force went under many people’s radar last year, with the release of Demon Slayer and Vinland Saga garnering most of the attention and praise. With that being said, Fire Force was still one of the better anime to come out last year, so naturally I have been eagerly awaiting season 2. Thankfully, Funimationcon delivered the season premiere with not one, but TWO episodes! There will be some spoilers in my first impressions for those who haven’t seen season 1 or the first episodes of season 2 yet, so be warned.      Episode one was surprisingly a filler episode. Most people aren’t a huge on filler episodes to start a season, but I don’t think any fan of the show will be mad at this episode, it had a good recap of season one with a solid fight scene. We start with Maki, Iris, Tamaki, and Shinra shopping for new clothes. It was nice to see the 8th getting to relax without having to deal with imminent danger for once, it’s not something we see often. My favorite part of the episode

Why I love The Rising of The Shield Hero

Image
The Rising of the Shield Hero took me by surprise last year and quickly became one of my favorite isekai. This wasn’t just because the premise was interesting, but because the protagonist Naofumi defied all the odds. They left him with nothing but a shield and he became the most powerful of the 4 cardinal heroes, with hard work and grit. There were many times he almost went down a more sinister path, but his companions kept his spirits up and always had his back. Shield Hero is such an interesting story, that shows no matter the hardship, as long as you have faith in yourself and your friends you can push through. When we first meet Naofumi, he’s a 20-year-old otaku college student, who, during a visit to the library, finds himself transported to another world. There he meets Motoyasu, Ren, and Itsuki. They are the Spear, sword, and bow heroes, respectively. Somehow Naofumi ends up being the Shield Hero, much to his dismay, as this means he can’t attack with his weapon, only defend. Th
